Description

Support the upcoming Kickstarter for the full zine of Diabolic Dialect by following the Kickstarter from the button below!

Dive into a magical game of weird, frail wizards and insane, over the top spells!

Diabolic Dialect is a print and play TTRPG for one Game Master and 2-5 players. Become a group of weird mages, over-reliant on their arcane powers and together you'll embark on a quest of magical hijinks and free-form spellcasting.

To play, print out a copy of the booklet for each player using the instructions for booklet printing included. This has everything you need, including a space for character info and will serve as an artifact of play after the game is done. However, a piece of paper and note cards will work just fine in the absence of an easily available printer!

Gather a couple of friends with an hour or two to spare, a good number of d6 dice and some pencils for everyone! You're ready to play!

Become a Wizard

Use the quick and simple rules to create your very own magical weirdo. Are you a long forgotten hermit? A headmaster of a prestigious mages school? Heir to a major wizard house? Or a member of a magical guild!

Whatever it may be, you now come together with your fellow wizards to embark on a new journey.

Cast Any Spell

In Diabolic Dialect wizards can cast any spell they can think of. Simply string words together into a sentence and cast it! When a wizard casts a spell, they roll a number of d6 dice equal to the words in the spell to see if it succeeds, fails or Mishaps!

But be careful! The arcane is fickle and if you're careless with your wording the Game Master might interpret the spell differently than your intent.

Mishaps!

Magic is risky! Sometimes the arcane refuses to cooperate, even with an expert such as yourself. When this happens it can lead to crazy backfires and Mishaps

These give the whole table say on what happens with your spell! Does it backfire on you? Maybe it does something completely different based on a willful misreading of the words you used.

As you Mishap you'll find yourself with Restrictions placed on the spells you cast. Something as simple as "even number of words only" all the way to more complicated things like "spells have to be in passive voice".

As the game continues Restrictions will stack and you'll be forced to think outside the box!

This all results in a crazy tumult of magic, Mishaps, and weird hijinks as the game is propelled forward by weird spells and their often catastrophic failures!
