Description

Gamemaster, your party returns to town, having defeated the Arch-Necromancer. They have about a month before the next big event takes place, and they have some wounds to tend to, some leads to follow, and two of them have a weighty argument to resolve. Their resources are low, and inventing another throwaway shopkeeper NPC is exhausting. What do you do?

(My recommendation: Give the players Restful Actions.)

----

This book contains a collection of downtime activities that players can choose to partake in after completing a tough battle or tense scene. The activities allow pairs of Player Characters to spend time together and complete tasks that can help them in other parts of the game, such as scouting landmarks, shopping for necessities, or resolving tension related to their secrets.

Players who have used Downtime Activity mechanics in Forged in the Dark games, should find these games familiar. These minigames fit into any TTRPG, although some may require some mechanical tweaks. They are designed to provide the characters with opportunities to do a variety of things that don't necessarily fit into other phases of the game.

This book includes the following 10 minigames:

  • Make Camp
  • Take a Shopping Trip - (Demo available!)
  • Rest and Recuperate
  • Work on Projects
  • Earn a Wage
  • Take A Night on the Town
  • Search for Information
  • Scout a Landmark
  • Make Natural Observations
  • Find A Quiet Place to Talk

The 'Take a Shopping Trip' action is available as a free sample.

Press kit available here: Google Drive.

Purchasing the book gets you the spreads, pages, and a plaintext version of the complete set of actions, as well as some notes on adding them to your game and on Scene and Sequel writing theory.
